Our Charity partner this month is the RED CROSS. Kristiana Kocis will update us with the latest on the Red Cross's role in the Jesusita Fire's response efforts and why this is such a necessary organization in our community.

The American Red Cross, Santa Barbara County Chapter has responded to
meet immediate disaster-caused needs of the residents affected by the
Jesusita wildfire. As of May 12, two Red Cross emergency shelters had
been set up, which housed over 800 people at the peak of evacuations.
Red Cross volunteers have served over 18,000 meals and snacks to the
affected residents and emergency personnel so far, and distributed 65
clean-up kits. This number is likely to go up as the clean up efforts
are just beginning. In addition, Red Cross health and mental health
services volunteers are offering professional help to those who need
it in these hard times. All disaster assistance is offered free of
charge and would not be possible without the selfless help of over 600
local Red Cross volunteers and ongoing financial support from the
community. The American Red Cross is not a government agency and
depends upon the generosity of the American people to support it
programs and services. Please go to www.sbredcross.org and make your
donation today.
